Sit-at-home: Security agencies vow to stop IPOB

Nigeria is believed to be a Democratic Nation with a constitution that guarantees freedom of expression. Peaceful protests and expressions are not a threats to the country’s development and unity, yet, the security agencies have the duty to maintain peace and order within the ambit is the law.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army, Department of Security Services and police have vowed to deal with members of the Indigenous People of Biafra if they cause problems in Imo State on Thursday.
At a press conference in Owerri on Tuesday, the state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, alongside heads of other security agencies in the state, said they would not tolerate any act of lawlessness from the separatist group during May 30 IPOB sit-at-home order.
The CP said there was no other country inside Nigeria and added that the group led by Nnamdi Kanu was illegal and unconstitutional.

He said IPOB members were free to sit at home on Thursday or any other day.

Ladodo said, “The security agencies in Imo State have met and we have agreed that we will not allow IPOB or any lawless group to truncate the peace we enjoy in the state.

“Anybody is free to sit at home if they like, but we will not allow anybody to molest the law-abiding people of Imo State all in the name of sit-at-home. We are warning members of IPOB to be careful.
“We have the capacity and capability to defend the people of the state; we have mapped out our operational strategy for May 30. We want to urge the good people of Imo State not to be fearful.”
