Police arrest, parade 86 suspected criminals in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 86 suspects in connection with various criminal offences across the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, DSP Kamal Datti Abubaka, told newsmen Thursday, while parading the suspects said they included Sara-Suka thugs, armed robbery suspects as well as kidnapping suspects.


The PPRO further said that others are motorcycle thieves, illicit drug pushers, rape suspects and two women who attempted to kill their respective newly-born babies conceived outside marriage, among others.

The PPRO further said that they recovered the following exhibits during the operations, “the Command equally recovered exhibits as follows: One fabricated pistol, three (3) cartridges, one live Ak47 ammunition, one Golf Passat Vehicle, four motorcycles, five handsets, twenty six cutlasses, shop breaking instruments, hacksaw, hammer.

“Others were 37 wrappers, three motor vehicle batteries, 142 bottles of codeine syrup and 490 assorted illicit drugs.

“In the same vein, the command rescued two newly-born babies,” he stated.

In another development police arrested suspected armed robbery gang.

The PPRO added that “at about 2300hrs, the command received a credible intelligence that an armed robbery gang arrived Bauchi metropolis from Jos, Plateau State in a motor vehicle, Golf Passat model, blue in colour and Reg. No. NTT-640-AA with intent to rob innocent citizens of the state.

“Fortunately, at about 2300hrs of same date, the said vehicle was intercepted at AKY Makama Filling Station near Bayan Gari Area of Bauchi metropolis with following suspects inside the vehicle while others are still at large.

i. Aliyu Habibu m of Bauchi Road, Jos, 22yrs

ii. Auwal Hassan m of Bauchi Road, Jos, 23yrs.

Exhibits recovered from them are:

i. One AK-47 Live ammunition

ii. Six (6) cutlasses

iii. Shop breaking instruments

iv. Hacksaw

v. Hammer

vi. Thirty seven (37) wrappers

vii. Three (3) Motor Vehicle Batteries.

Meanwhile, discreet investigation led to the arrest of their accomplice in Bauchi, one Alhaji Jamilu aka Jamilu Thinking, who allegedly haboured them in Bauchi.

Case is under investigation, while effort is on top gear to arrest the remaining suspects.
