A member of a notorious kidnap syndicate has been arrested in Niger state by the state Police Command.
A plan by the syndicate to carry out a kidnap was foiled due to information fed to the Police after the plans had been carried put in a beer parlor.
The kidnappers numbering six had planned to kidnap one Abubakar Sule, a member of Fulani vigilante group, Kpada in a beer parlor but unknown to them, their information was being eavesdropped.
The informant gave the information to the Police who waited for them at their agreed point.
However, only one of the members was arrested as the others escaped upon sighting the Policemen.
The arrested suspect, Ibrahim Bahago said that he never knew that somebody was listening to them when they were hatching their plan to kidnap Sule.
“I never knew that that some other persons were listening to our conversations and that was how I found myself in police net, it is unfortunate.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar said the suspect had confessed to the crime adding that the house of Bahago was searched and the operatives recovered one AK47 magazine with 60 rounds of live ammunitions, one sleeve shirt, two pullover shirts and one container of service oil.
He said the matter would be charged to court after investigation.
