Here are stories of some of the most fearless women alive, who seek thrill with sass, and live to smile another day.
Unheard of but not invisible to the public eye. Look harder and you will find women who are not just shattering stereotypes but leaving men far behind in the bravery department. Testosterone be damned!
This Women's day, we choose to celebrate three of them.
1. Colombian freediver who runs on the ocean floor
She's not a mermaid, she's not aquawoman either. She dives underwater holding a huge rock, runs on the ocean's floor, without any breathing gear!
SofÃa Gómez Uribe is a Colombian world record holding freediver and has a freediving school in Dominica. That is also where a stunning video of her insane rock run on ocean's floor was made.
In the video which now has over two million views, she drops down around 60 feet at the bottom of the ocean and runs back up.
2. Mexican sheriff whose job even men didn't want
In 2010, Marisol Valles GarcÃa was only 21 years old when she became the police chief in one of Mexico's most dangerous border towns dominated by drug cartels. She was considered the bravest woman in Mexico.

Marisol made headlines for being the only person willing to take the sheriff's job as just over an year before the previous police chief was kidnapped and beheaded, with his severed head thrown in front of the police station.
That was the time when, mayors and cops were specifically being targeted, with some being tortured to death. When all male police officers quit, Marisol Valles was the only person to apply for the job. She reportedly took the job to change her community. After being sworn in, she said, "We're all afraid in Mexico now. We can't let fear beat us".
After four months on the job, death threats forced her and her family to flee to the United States, where they are currently seeking asylum. But she showed she is made of real steel.
3. Kashmiri teen who axed a terrorist and then shot him dead
We hear heroic stories of Indian soldiers every day. But it's not every day that you hear about an 18-year-old Kashmiri woman protecting her family by killing a terrorist with an axe and then shooting him down with his own AK-47 rifle.
When three Pakistani terrorists barged into Rukhsana Kausar's home at night and started beating up her parents, she saw no option but to stand up to defend her family. At first, she hid under her bed but when things got worse, she got out an axe and smashed a terrorist's head. She then took his AK-47 rifle and shot him dead. The terrorist was later identified as a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander.
Rukhsana's family joined her in the action. She and her brother fired at the other terrorists, forcing them to flee.
This happened in September 2009, in Upper Kalsi town of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. Rukhsana Kausar won several awards for her valour, including the National Bravery Award.
